• MATTHEW PULLICINO

      Matthew is a Co-Founder/Manager of The Bigger Picture and to date has produced commercials and short films and corporate presentations for both the local and foreign market. 

      Matthew set up The Bigger Picture as a partnership with David Serge in 2004 to service the local industry. The partnership soon turned into a limited liability company that became synonymous with the best the island had to offer in production and post. Over the years the company employed on both a part time and full time basis further augmenting the spirit of The Bigger Picture, that as the name suggests always looks beyond its own limitations to reach for a bigger vision. Matthew still is a managing director of the company that currently is also in partnership with Stargate Studios of Los Angeles to form the local chapter, Stargate Studios Malta. Besides acting CEO of Stargate Studios Malta, Matthew manages the relationship between the EU studios and Los Angeles as President of the Stargate Studios Europe.

      First introduced to the industry in 2001, Matthew worked with the VFX department on Julius Caesar in Malta and Bulgaria for TNT, together with the VFX supervisor Jay Mark Johnson (Outbreak, Blade, Matrix, Titanic). Matthew later interfaced with Stargate Films under the supervision of the CEO, 2nd unit director of photography Sam Nicholson (Desperate Housewives, Nip/Tuck, CSI: Crime scene investigation, White Noise, Dante's Peak, Twister) on 'Helen of Troy' in Malta and Los Angeles. This relationship still stands to-date and amongst other things, Matthew acts as a VFX supervisor on jobs shooting in Europe and Africa such as 'The Philanthropist' NBC.

    • DAVID SERGE

      David is a co-founder of The Bigger Picture and a director of Stargate Studios Malta. 

      He is a Producer, Director of Photography and Visual Effects Supervisor. To date he has produced and shot over 200 TV commercials, 13 short films, including “.303” and “Flutter” (Co-Produced with Elliot Cowan) and 2 documentaries made for the international market. He has worked on projects for the Discovery Channel, BBC, Hallmark Entertainment, National Geographic and Dreamworks in various capacities and set roles.

      David has given workshops in digital cinematography at the Arab Film Festival in Beirut, Lebanon and at the Insight Out! High Definition Digital Academy in Berlin. 

      His film “The Legionnaire's Spear” placed first at the Malta National Film Competition, and won awards for Best Cinematography and the Special Jury Award for Technical Achievement. He also claimed first prize at the Golden Knight International Film Festival, making David the first Maltese in 33 years to win this award. His film “.303” placed first at the Malta International Short Film Festival and also made the official selection at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, California.

      David held the role of second unit Director of Photography on several international projects including “Sinbad”(Sky), “Pater Castell” (UFA), “El Principe” (Telecinco) and “I Medici - Masters of Florence”(RAI), also handling the shooting of several VFX elements for “Games of Thrones - S1” (HBO). He was also a main unit Camera Operator on many of these projects including “A Dangerous Arrangement” (Entertainment One).

      David was the Visual Effects Supervisor on multiple international projects, including “El Principe”(Telecinco), “Pietro Mennea” (RAI), “You, Me and the Apocalypse” (Sky, NBC) and “I Medici - Masters of Florence” (RAI).
